Introduction

Teachers in MHS request Macs on a daily basis, as well as bring them back to 24pintech. When a teacher requests a Mac we want to make sure that teacher gets the Mac OS and not Windows, or Linux.

Imaging the Mac

Once a Mac is confirmed to work you must image it, especially if there is a different OS other than Mac. In order to image a Mac you must:

  1. hold N until a globe appears on screen
  2. allow everything to load
  3. once prompted select restore a master
  4. select "October 2017"
  5. select "Macintosh HD"
  6. press the play button

Once the image process is complete restart the Mac.

Start-up

If a Mac has Multiple operating systems installed, upon booting up the PC you may notice it automatically boots up into the old operating system that is not Mac OS. In order to bypass this, hold the Alt key as the Mac is booting up. This will display all of the operating systems installed and allow you to select one. Select "Macintosh" and boot it up.

Set-up

Once imaged and in the Mac OS sign in using the MUSD credentials

Username: musd

Password: iw2bosx

Once signed in, make "Macintosh" the boot OS. do this by going to applications--->Utility--->Disk Utility. Make sure apps are able to be downloaded as well as the Mac itself can connect to the WIFI.

Delete any other operating systems, by going into disk utility and delete them. If the Mac does not allow you to delete the partition, then run boot camp and delete it that way.

Accounts

Now that everything is set up go ahead and add accounts to the system. 2-3 accounts will be added to the system. Mandatory in any and all systems is going to be the 24pintech account.

Username: 24pintech

Password: Low-level ATX password

make the 24pin account an Admin

The next account is the teacher's account. Make this account an Admin. This will be a generic account.

Username: First Initial+last name.

Password: First initial+last initial+year

If there is going to be students using that specific computer the account will be generic.

Username: Student

There will be no password for the student accounts. Student accounts will not be admin either.

Delivering the Mac

Once EVERYTHING listed above has been completed take the Mac to the teachers room and set them up. The teacher should have a spot for the Mac to go. The spot should have a Ethernet port, and power outlet near it. Upon arrival to the class be prepared to:

  1. Give the teacher the logins specific to Him/Her and their students (if this applies). A printed out sheet of paper with the logins is recommended for the teacher to reference later on.
  2. Show the teacher how to use Mac OS, because it can be confusing to most.
  3. Download any other requested apps the teacher may want/need.
  4. Name Mac(s) using our naming convention. CTE(Room#)(S or T)(##)
