What is 24MineTech?

Overview

- 24MineTech is the latest and greatest version of Java edition Minecraft hosted by yours truly, Midgard. It is the real deal. And yes. The rumors you've heard from your fellow classmates are true, 24PinTech does have its own Minecraft server. A true technological marvel.

Background

- 24MineTech is not the first Minecraft server to be hosted in 24PinTech. Not much is known about the previous servers. Aside from the same story, a group of juniors and seniors get together, create a server, beg Chamberlain to port forward, fail, play on the server, then forget about it as it gathers dust. Which is exactly why we are repeating the cycle with the latest iteration.

How Is This Possible?

Midgard Returns

- Midgard, reinstalled from the ground up. Gone are the days of UnRaid. A new era arrives as TrueNAS is utilized. Although a new project for testing a better OS for storing backups of any 24PinTech related data, with permission from Chamberlain, we have decided to make room for testing out a Minecraft server. Using the TrueNAS dashboard, we installed a plugin called MineOS, allowing for us to customize and host a server off of a created pool. How to installed and configure MineOS can be found here at Midgard/TrueNAS.

Technological Achievement

- 24MineTech doesn't run off of any virtual machine, rather is integrated into the FreeBSD system. Taking full advantage of the boot time, storage space, and RAM availability that Midgard has to offer.

Specifications

- Below are the technical specifications for 24MineTech:

  • Version: Minecraft Java 1.19.3
  • Max Players: 50 (can be modified)
  • Game Mode: Survival (can be modified)
  • Difficulty: Hard (can be modified)
  • Saves: Auto-saves every 60 minutes, still testing to see if server saves on shutdown
  • CPU: We can safely assume it uses one or both of the Intel® Xeon® CPUs
  • RAM: Server has been configured to use anywhere from 4096MiB (4GiB) to 8192MiB (8GiB) of RAM (can be modified)
  • Storage: We're not exactly sure where the server is stored, our best theory being the MineTech pool created for testing purposes

- Information gathered from the TrueNAS dashboard (accessible at 10.21.25.10) and the MineOS dashboard (accessible at INSERT HERE)

What Is The Purpose?

Testing

- The primary purpose of the server is for testing, definitely not an excuse. As Chamberlain wants us to use TrueNAS for storing backups, as such, so we don't end up accidently deleting terabytes worth of data, why not do a controlled test first? More information in regards to what we've done with Midgard can be found here, however in short we are currently working with a pool called MineTech.
