Description:

Testout is an online lab simulator used to educate students on aspects of a selected course and familiarize users with the respective work involved in the course. Here at 24PinTech we use TestOut as our experience builder and educator, working on our studies at home and/or whenever we are not assigned any work orders. We are required to complete a minimum of 3 hours of work and 5% of progress in our course a week, if no time is allowed in class for TestOut we are expected to complete it at home.

Program

Format:

TestOut is presented in a straight-to-the-point format, progressing from page to page in a slide-show-esque style. The content is organized in a hierarchy descending from Chapters, to Sections, to individual pages. Chapters cover broad prospects of the selected course, and sections narrow down on specific details in said chapter. The pages varies from notes detailing the current chapter, video lessons going into depth on a subject, labs used to familiarize users with the coursework, and tests to assess what has been learned throughout the chapter.

Certifications:

TestOut offers a wide selection of professional certifications to specialize in, providing students to adjust their education to what field they would like to specialize in. Descriptions of the Certifications are copied from the TestOut catalog page.

  • PC Pro: The main purpose of the TestOut PC Pro certification is to verify necessary skills to work as an IT support professional. In an IT support job, you’ll be asked to install, repair, configure, secure, and manage computer hardware, operating systems, and software in home or corporate environments. These are the most basic and foundational skills required of all IT professionals. Additionally, communication, listening and analysis skills are essentials for interacting with customers.

  • Network Pro: The TestOut Network Pro certification measures an examinee's ability to perform tasks commonly performed by IT network professionals, including systems administrators, network administrators, network engineers and related careers. The core responsibilities of these job roles typically revolve around the management of hardware and software networking components and include IP configuration, setting up wireless and wired networks, managing networks, basic network security, software updates, hardware upgrades and network protocols. IT network professionals must also master fundamental computer support and maintenance which are covered in TestOut’s PC Pro certification exam.

  • Security Pro: The TestOut Security Pro certification measures an examinee's ability to perform tasks commonly performed by IT security professionals such as network and systems administrators and IT security specialists. These professionals are typically responsible for helping to implement and maintain security protocols and best practices. Passing the TestOut Security Pro Certification means you are capable of implementing layered security through group policy objects, access control lists, wireless and wired local area network security measures, and workstation and mobile device security measures.

  • Linux Pro: The TestOut Linux Pro Certification measures an examinee's ability to perform tasks commonly performed by IT professionals who work with a version of the Linux operating system. Linux training is beneficial in a variety of environments for a large number of IT careers and job descriptions. Such professionals include network and systems administrators, data center support specialists, senior support specialists, and security specialists. Real-world job tasks include managing hardware and software components, managing networks, managing users and file systems, setting up new systems, and general proficiency with the Linux command line.

  • Server Pro: Install & Configure*: The TestOut Server Pro: Install and Configure certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform real-world tasks using the Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 operating systems. These tasks are frequently performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including network systems administrator, systems engineer, senior security specialist, and IT systems administrator. Examinees have the opportunity to exhibit competence performing core job tasks such as server installation and configuration, role and feature configuration, Hyper-V configuration, core network services, Active Directory administration, and Group Policy management.

  • Server Pro: Manage & Administer*: The TestOut Server Pro: Manage & Administer certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform real-world tasks using the Windows Server 2012 operating system. These tasks are frequently performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including network systems administrator, systems engineer, senior security specialist, and IT systems administrator. Examinees have the opportunity to show competence performing core job tasks, such as Active Directory management, Group Policy configuration, file services management, DNS configuration, routing and remote access configuration, and deployment management.

  • Server Pro: Advanced Services*: The TestOut Server Pro: Advanced Services certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform real-world tasks using Windows Server 2012. These tasks are frequently performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including network systems administrator, systems engineer, senior security specialist, IT systems administrator, and many others. Examinees have the opportunity to show competence performing core job tasks such as advanced Active Directory management, advanced storage management, server data protection, advanced DHCP and DNS configuration, high availability implementation, certificate management, and digital rights management.

  • Server Pro 2016: Install and Storage: The TestOut Server Pro 2016: Install and Storage certification exam measures an examinee’s ability to perform real-world tasks using the Windows Server 2016 operating system. These tasks are performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including network systems administrator, systems engineer, senior security specialist, and IT systems administrator. Examinees have the opportunity to exhibit competence through performing installation, configuration, and management tasks in Windows Server 2016. Technologies used include storage services, network services, file and print, virtualization, high availability, active directory, and group policy.

  • Switching Pro*: The TestOut Switching Pro certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform real-world tasks using the command line interface on Cisco switching devices. The tasks assessed in this exam are often performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including computer security specialists, systems engineers, and network systems administrators. Switching Pro tasks include switch setup and configuration, switch Interface Configuration, VLAN configuration, TCP/IP configuration, spanning tree configuration, interVLAN routing, switch security, and EtherChannel configuration.

  • Routing Pro*: The TestOut Routing Pro certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform real-world tasks using the command line interface on Cisco routing devices. The tasks assessed in this exam are often performed by IT professionals in a variety of job roles, including computer security specialists, systems engineers, and network systems administrators. These tasks include IP routing implementation, OSPF routing configuration, access control list configuration, EIGRP routing configuration, DHCP server configuration, NAT configuration, router security, and high availability configuration.

  • Desktop Pro: The TestOut Desktop Pro certification exam measures an examinee's ability to perform essential tasks in Microsoft Office productivity applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Examinees have the opportunity to prove their proficiency using these applications to create word documents, spreadsheets, and presentation slides. These skills are beneficial in a wide variety of jobs across many different industries, such as business, IT, healthcare, and education. Desktop Pro certified individuals have greater career and job readiness, increased confidence, and increased job satisfaction.
